The Quelfire Intumescent & Acoustic Putty Pad is designed to reinstate fire and acoustic performance in plasterboard partitions where socket or switch boxes penetrate the wall. Certified for up to 2 hours of fire resistance and up to 70dB acoustic reduction, it is suitable for both single and double socket boxes, whether metal or plastic.

Made from a non-setting, silicone-based intumescent material, the pad expands when exposed to fire to seal the void left by burned-out sockets, also providing a cold smoke seal. Easy to install by hand and suitable for retrofitting, it also helps reduce air leakage, supporting compliance with energy efficiency standards.

Key Features

  • Up to 2-hour fire resistance (BS EN 1366-3:2009, BS EN 1363-1:2012)

  • Acoustic rated up to 70dB (BS EN ISO 140-3:1995, ISO 717-1:1997)

  • Pre-formed to suit single or double socket and switch boxes

  • Cold smoke seal for improved compartmentation

  • Reduces air leakage and supports compliance with Approved Document L

  • Safe, non-hazardous material—no PPE required

  • Quick, tool-free installation—pad can be moulded and slit for cables

  • Can be retrofitted in existing installations

  • Moisture resistant with long-term durability
