Single-Layer Horizontal Firestop System for Retrofitting Timber Floors
The FIREFLY® FB180 Ablative Batt – Floor System (60mm) delivers an efficient, non-load-bearing horizontal fire compartmentation solution for retrofit applications, offering 90 minutes of fire integrity and 60 minutes insulation (EI60/EI90). Specifically designed for friction-fitting between 90 × 38mm timber joists, the system enables upgrades to fire performance without disturbing ornate, lathe, or plaster ceilings—making it ideal for use in historic or multiple occupancy buildings.
Constructed from mineral wool coated with a dual-side ablative finish, the 60mm batt offers rigid support, acoustic reduction (27dB), and seamless integration with FIREFLY® flexible fire barriers and fixings. Tested to BS EN 1363-1:2020 and BS EN 1364-2 (unloaded floors), this system is approved for use with common penetrations including soil pipes, cable trays, and insulated metal pipes.
